flashing alarm led
i'm installing a varad flashing led. it is a lead that can be used on an alarm or can be connected without an alarm to fool robbers. anyways I don't have an alarm, and there is 3 wires. one for ground, one for constant, and one that is switched (needs to be grounded when car is off). were can i find a wire that is only grounded when car is off? In the instructions, it says ignition, ground when car is off. I got it running now with a switch, but I would like it to run automatically when I shut off my car instead of flicking the switch to turn it on. right now the switch is on that 3rd wire & ground (the one that needs to be grounded when car is off). Is the ignition wire really grounded when the car is off? I could have done it with a relay, but I don't really feel like puting a relay just for that. The instructions can be found here, go to the instructions without alarm.

thanks for the info. i know how to do it with the relay, I just taught there might be another way without putting a relay. but why would they name that wire "ignition, ground when car is off"? there is no need for ignition when car is on, u just need a ground on it when car is off?

i put my constant on the constant wire, i put my ground on the ground wire, then the 3rd, u only need ground to make it work, what do you need the ignition wire on it when the car is on for? Or do they mean ignition to make relay switch the 3rd wire to ground? the way they were saying it, it sounded like the ignition wire was grounded when car off.

yeah i had a brain fart when i typed that up, your going to want to ground pin 30 and then connect 87a to the switched input on your led. That will only show ground when the ignition wire isnt energized. they probably designed it that way cause it was cheaper than using a positive input.
