how to wire turn signals
i was wondering if there was a way to wire new turn signals onto a moped. the switch that came with it is broken and needs some kind of replacement. I'm not sure if the wires are any good either. So what would be the easiest way to do this like run new wires and what kind of switch/flasher would I use? thanks. oh and also the brake light doesn't come on when the handle is squeezed is that easy to fix?
The brake light not coming is probably due to a bad switch or missing wire. From the back of the lever is there a push button switch(should be able to hear clicking when you press lever) and a wire that runs back to the lamps?
Turn signals. On a Moped, you should be able to get away with a very simple switch with off in the middle and a left and right contact. Probably a new signal switch would be easiest to find, ask a bicycle shop about kits. After that its just pwr and ground to the switch and from the switch, the left contact to left lamp etc. A bicycle system should work fine and isn't expensive. The ones made for bikes with generators should be better cause you could wire them in. Other than that, you could also simple use on/off switches on each handle bar one for right and one for left, which also allow to have hazard lights, lol. Some Harleys use this system. I like it.

cool yea looks like i just need a switch then. so a power wire runs from battery to middle of switch for off, then on each side a power runs to each bulb and then each bulb is grounded. I guess the flasher goes before the switch. Don't know if the stock one is working either.
If your flasher is shot you'd have to replace that for sure. I'm not sure how many bikes are the same, mopeds might be different than motorcycles. My directionals have a flasher after the switch but the flasher is first to receive power. There is also a whole host of grounding options too. Some ground the stalk, others use a grounding tang from the bulb, etc. You should be able to find the flasher by chasing the wires out of the switch.
