if your really set on not having a key in your dash then go ahead, but i've had to deal with so many of these units forgeting the programming or simply not sending the signal when its cold out. its just easier and more reliable to use the 556u

555i is by far the best thing to put in your car. hands down. ive had it for 3 years strong, never lost programming, never hesitates to do it's job. Reliability comes from your installation more than the product. The product itself is bullet proof.
The product isn't bulletproof. I've been installin for over twelve years and there have been times when they break down, a little more than others. My disliking for DEI is more than just than what were talking about here though.

well ****, even if it did crap out after 3 years, for the $25 i paid for it, id happily buy another.
skipbarber, if it went bad then chances are you'd be stranded right? It might cost a bit to get it someplace for someone to replace it. Or at least to tow it to your house while you waited on a replacement. Thats one thing to consider.
But like I said, I have one and have had no problems. I'd buy one again.
