Correct Wires?
Correct Wires?
I am planning on buying a pre-packaged amp installation kit from knukonceptz, however this is my first install and I need some advice. My amp will be powering 2 12" Punch P1s at 250W each, and there are two kits of wire (I figure I'll use the 4 AWG kit)
a "4 gauge kit":
knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KOL-AK4
and a "4 gauge 4 channel kit" knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KOL-AK44
<<sorry this is my first post so I can't post direct links, add the dubyas in front of those links>>
Now, by 4 channel does this mean the amp kit is for two speakers? AKA 2 channels per speaker? Or do I simply need the regular "4 gauge" kit. Also, will this come with enough speaker wire? It says it comes with 5 meter RCA cables - one of these with the 4 gauge kit, and two with the 4 gauge 4 channel kit. I'm trigger happy and ready to get started, don't know what I'd do if I hadn't found this site with all you other civic lovers :-> Thanks guys!
Also - does anyone know if my '04 civic lx coupe stock head unit already has low pre-outs? I know theres some kind of adapter i can buy (don't know the name of it) if there aren't any already, but I'd like to wait until I have all my stuff together before I remove the headunit, and if none of you guys knows I'll have to remove it, find out, put it back in, go buy stuff, remove it again... etc.
Thanks again!

if your hooking up one amp all you need is rca, power, ground, remote, and wires for speakers. as for the stock units no pre outs but there are boxes that you can use on a stock head unit so you can hook RCAs to it. but i reccomend just getting anew head unit, the stock unit will make the subs sound like crap.
a 4 channel kit should include, a 4awg power with fuse to run from the battery, 2 remote (or one long for you to cut), 2 ground wires, and 2 sets of stereo rca cables (each having a right and a left)
I dont think the stock headunit doesn't have output (correct me if i'm wrong) but i'm not to sure cuz when i bought my car it didn't have the stock head unit.

the only difference is the 4 channel amp kit has an extra pair of rca's. The cheaper kit will be fine for you. The piece your refering to is called a line output converter (LOC). If your amp doesnt have speaker level inputs your going to need this to step down the voltage to an acceptable level for the amplifier.
