hey i have a 02 lx coupe, and i followed megahurtz DIY, but i just poped out the cig panel..and removed the 2 screwed, and now i have been tryin for over an hour in the cold trying to take off the wwhole center thing, it wont budge, im pushing out that plastic thats on top of that metal bar, up and out and it wont move..i even tried sitting in the back seat, and put all my wieght on it and nothing!!!!

i tried prying it out ..bad idea lol, it seems to be stuck near the emergency light area and near the bottom and sides, i managed to pop off two clips on the top corner but thats it,

Just so you don't mess up your dash, get yourself a paint scraper and put it under the molding. Then use the widest screw driver you have to pry between the stereo molding and the paint scraper. Don't pry between the paint scraper and the dash because the dash seems to get all scraped up and chewed.

yup, keep pulling, those 2 screws were the only thing holding that HU console, except for the clips. Those clips really hold. I also thaught i was gonna break it the first time.

yea, making it loose it's virginity can be a little difficult, take a cloth of some kind and use it between the screw driver and the console itself so you dont scratch and hurt anything

always pull it straight out, it might break if u pull up, i would insert the screwdriver where it is out and slide it up to where it won't come out and gently pry it out....still use that cloth though, that way you dont sratch it

I say work on 1 clip at a time of the clips will come flying out, but working 1 by 1 will be tough.... I just pulled straight out and lost 2 clips in the process.

Wrap a big flathead screwdrive in cloth and use that to remove the air vents.
Now use the air vent holes and pull the top of the dash panel out. And yes it is very difficult at first because of the ugly metal clips holding it in place.

Hey Saugashan.

If you can't get it out. I'd be willing to help you out. I've changed my fair share of decks in my car already.

If you need help you can come down to my place, and I'll pop the sucker out for you.

I had good luck pushing it out by using the bracket that the screws were in, and BTW you will loose some clips.
