Operation Alpine
well, during this 6 month sentence of having my license suspended, ive decided...to go all show n no go for now... and for starters, ive juss brought a Alpine CDA-9855 headunit for my car...retail price is around 450'ish...still got a month in a half before i get my license back so i should get all my parts i want for my car, audio wise, within the next 2 months...im getting my 4 type R component speakers friday, retail around 110'ish per pair. ill take pix of all my parts and my car, a pre photoshop and after photoshop after i get done with everything...hopefully, ill get my two 12'in Type R's in another 2 weeks. btw, anyone have any suggestions to what type of amp is good? i prefer alpine... thanks
i have the 9855 and type r 6x9 type r rears and infinity kappa perfect components up front, a type r ten powered by a fosgate 6001 amp and a fosgate 8004 4 channel powering the speakers. if you can return the 9855 do so. i love the way it sounds. it is a great deck but the swingface doesnt work in our cars. i have gone through three of them all three have had the faceplate stick. i have friends who have the same deck in diffrent cars and they never have the problem. if you want to keep it just get used to having to reef on it to get it open. it so hard to not be gentle with it to considering the price.
i have the 9835, no problems with it opening. i had an older model that stuck a little, but i think it was the install job and regardless, it still opened. i think lots of people on here have alpines and no problem with it opening. (at least not that i've seen)

it wasn't the install, it was the head unit. cda-9855 has had a lot of problems. these problems don't exist in the cda-9835, they are a much better deck. but of course they are discontinued and hard to find as it is, and now that everybody is starting to realize that the 9855 is a flop, they are even more rarer and the prices won't be as cheap

This is probably irrelevant now, but Crutchfield as an Alpine package deal. I have not taken the time to calculate how much of a deal it is, but it sure makes things convenient.

You'll love the system. I just redid (actually in the process of redoing) my system. I got the IVA-D310, 2 12" type x, 3 sets of SPX-177R (type x 6.5 comps), 2 MRD0-m1005 (1000w mono block amp), and a F345 (4 chn. amp) Alpine is def. the way to go.
i love my type r. Im pushing it with a JL AUdio 500/1...in the Alpine box....it is a monstrous combo. haha. Ask any of my friends, noone believes its only 1 12" until i pop my trunk.
