Head Unit install

Hi,

I have a 2001 Civic Hatchback, the one with the gear shifter on the dash. Have read the sticky about changing the Head Unit, but it`s quite different from my car. Also how do i get off the door panels ? Can`t seem to find any phillips screws,by the way the window is NOT electrical, don`t want to break anything so i find it best to ask.

Sorry for the newbie questions.

Jorgen

gotta get a window crank remover and a panel popper. Once you remove the window crank look by at the door handle, their should be a little plate that can pop off to reveal two screws.

After that look down the at the handle arm rest and look for a little hinged door that will reveal a screw. After that insert your panel popper into the bottom of the door and start pulling the door pane off. If you feel reistance, stop and look for a screw thats holding it in.

As for the head unit, I haven't personally worked with a SI before, but if you remove the trim panel under the shifter area there should be two 8 mm bolts and after you remove those, the whole center console/shifter assembly should come loose, but I would check with someone else whose worked on one of them

I've worked on them and you have to pull the plate off that is around the shifter. WARNING: This plate is extremely tight, if u are not careful you will mark up the plastic, when i did a system in one of these at work i had to pull that plate so hard I thought it was gonna break. Once that comes off there are two 8mm holding the dash in. There are two clips on the top of the radio bezel in the corners next to vents. These are also very secure and you can easily break the plastic so be careful. If I remeber correctly there are two more screws under the plate where heater comtrols are. Check that before u start yanking. You should be able to get to the radio after all that.
