Help Dash light dont work... UPDATE: on PAGE 2
i was moving my HU to the lower part of the dash hole (where the pocket normally is) and when i did the orange-white wire( illumantion) came un-done and i rewired it to.
some how when i repowered the car to test my HU i saw smoke and smelled burning plastic starting to come from in the dash... when i saw this i quickly turned off everthing.. but i was unable to find what was burning... then when i went to turn on my lights the dash and hvac controls dont work....
UPDATE: getting fixed under honda certified

oh that is very bad. If you shorted out the illumination wire, there is NO fuse for that. So you permanently destroyed your gauge and dash lights. Sorry. Only thing you could do is get a new cluster and try to change the bulbs behind the hvac controls (altho the entire circuit was prolly melted).

alot of $ otherwise. My custom backlight just broke so I ordered some white face blue/green indiglo gauges instead. They wire independently, but you would have to find a new power soruce. You could wire them to the parking light, just gotta run the wire through the firewall to the light and splice it. Only because your wires are prolly fried going to the cluster.

update: honda will be paying the bill to get my lights fixed..... they were going to make me pay the diagnostic fee and then when the repair was done i would need to pay that as well, stating that an alarm that used to be in the car caused the problem (which was removed by the dealer befor i bought the car)... bad rewiring or something
i said what alarm (because i actually didn't know about that)
then the honda rep said, you actually bought the car that way and they certified it ...i know we would never do that
i said, you got to be kidding me
then he said dont worry about the bill we'll get it covered
i said thanks and i am now just waiting for my new dash cluster and HVAC controls..... i should have tried to get a 05 cluster huh? oh well the old silver matches my car too

ok here's what you did
you hooked up the illumination wire to the dimmer wire...shorted out your circuit board, burned the traces, of your cluster and in the process also burned the IC that controls the cluster lighting and HVAC controls....
here's what you could've done to fix the problem...gone to an electronics repair shop, they would've soldered jumper cables to take place of the now burned traces...replaced any resistors and that IC...
everything would then work like it did before
I know this how???? well I did the same thing and thats how me and one of the electro-techs at work fixed it

the dimmer wire shouldn't have anything connected to it....
your board wont necessarly burn right away....it was about 3 months before mine did...in some cases I've heard it happen instantly after the lights were turned on...
