FOr some reason my battery light came on and my alternator stopped charging....so me and my friend bought a brand new one and now the light is still on and it wont charge the battery....and we know it's not the battery....we also checked the fuses and everything is fine...the car will run for a while, but wehn i turn off the car and try and start it again, it wont(dead)...so what else could be wrong...please help....hopefully someone with the same symptoms can help

If the alternator was dead, the car would only run for as long as the battery was able to power the car. Remember that the car needs 2 things in terms of electricity, volts and amperage.

Rep Power: 312 or it could be that even though the new alternator is ok, its not juicin the battery because of the connections. did you have the old one tested before you got the new one? cause its free to test. when you hook up the alternator make sure you connect the leads to the right place. i know it can be a pain cause of where the alternator is located. i wanna know how it turns out. if its not recharging it could be that one of the leads from the alternator to the batter is corroded or broken somehow. good luck.

Rep Power: 762 it's the alternator
to test, start your car with the battery disconnected, then when it is running, disconnect the pos terminal. if the car shuts off or stumbles, it's the alternator. if your batteries won't charge i almost gaurantee you it is anyway. one battery failing to hold a charge is possible, but a double battery failure, especially with a brand new one, is near impossible.

Rep Power: 304 He doesnt have a brand new battery, he has a brand new alternator and the same battery. Unless your battery is a deep cycle, then it's crap because it's been drained completely. You are supposed to replace the battery and alternator together, so I would get the battery checked out.

Rep Power: 295 its most likely the battery...cuz it can hold 12 volts but it wont have enough juice to crank out about 200amps for the starter to work over...just had this problem yesterday with a friends truck

goddie that ur not having my problem..
all dash light just turned on...and i can't start my car..
turns out, after playing around with the stuff inside the car, two fuses blown...and that's when i can start my car again...
but now, if i try to replace the blown fuses, the same dash light comes out again.....
