Angry Battery Light?

i added pulleys to my car about 3 weeks ago, of course i left them too close to a power steering line and they cut through and ruined my alternator with the fluid. i jumped the batt a bunch of times not even thinking of the alt at the time until my car just wouldnt do anything anymore, finally i got a new alt with the stock batt because it still holds its full charge. ever since then my batt light has been on no matter what, my volt meter shows like 14+/- volts. i have no idea what to do to get rid of the annoying light, and i want to do it right, not like pull the bulb. could i have tripped some fuse or something? any help with this POS light would be great.

I don't know if this will help or not but you could try resetting the ECU. Or you could always be ghetto and put a piece of electrical tape over the light.
