well like the title says I have an MRD-M500 alpine amp and I had 2 Alpine Type R (model SWR-1221D 2 ohm +2 ohm.) My question is do I stay with the Alpine Type R, they don't make that model any longer, they make the SWR -1242D 12" dual 4-ohm sub and everywhere I've looked, except for ebay they don't stock it any longer. My first sub blew and my second one was messed up cuz I was carrying things in the trunk so its time for some new subs. Please help me and tell me what would sound good on that MRD-M500 amp I'd like to stay with alpine not neccessarily the Type R and I don't think I want to change the amp even though its a bit old.
Thanks in advance guys for helping the noob.

well i've found the 1222D 2+2 ohm 12" sub so I guess that is the newer model of my old sub and I should stick with that unless someone says otherwise?? is this still a good sub/amp combo I've had it set up for so long and I've been pleased with it forever except when I lost my sub and my second one is starting to crap out...
Well, if you found them, and liked the way the old ones sounded, i can't see why the newer ones would sound any worse, so i'd just say go for it
sorry, i don't know much else about alpine's subs.

get some new infinity black subs. i forget the model name but they are sweet and pretty new. the rms is like 400 and peak is 1300 watts i think. try those. run both on the one amp. should be safe. it the amp is 2 channel don't bridge it. if its one you don't have a choice.
