i just ran in to my buddy kyle...we worked together at RF and him, myself and another friend took 7th in extreme 1-2 (unsponsored)...well some **** happend and he no longer works at RF but he told me hes back in the spl game and to check out his SCION xB on terpro.....wow is all i gotta say
two 12's (pioneer), 8 amps (pioneer) 173 DB
thats louder than we did with two 18's and 16 amps on the old mics. he also somehow used the wheels and tires off his old spl truck on the new one..dont ask me how....i still have to get all the details (none of which i will be sharing)
i cant wait to get over there and check out the box
here is the truck doing a 172.3

I've never been into SPL, just dont see the point of putting all that time and effort for just a few seconds of sound. I like SQL, but that Scion is still impressive.
I need TP for my bunghole

hahhahaha so cute, people don't know an extreme vehcile when they see one
173 db is indeed an awesoem number, but they are still going to get their asses handed to them at finals. rumor has it, europeans are up to 180 now
Loudest i have ever seen in canada is 171, which was pretty good, but there are currently only 5 extreme vehicles active in canada... 3 civics, a bronco and an isuzu trooper... the 171 was the trooper
vehicle looks nice though, takes UBER money to build a car like that... I am guessing 4"-6" plexi windows? that stuff is made of money
any pics or details ont eh box? not counting on any box pics... I know how extreme guys are about that kinda thing

daamn that is impressive a friend of mine used to own a sound shop. he had a black mitsu mighty max with six 12's in a crawl through in his truck, 800 rms on each speaker and he put down 159.9, i couldnt imagine what that is like.

I still see it around. I think JBL is the sponsor now.

i cant wait for the europeans show up.i was at finals when they made their big splash in 02. Scott Owens is waiting with his pioneer F250 and kyle with his Scion (both outta the same shop)
no pics of the box....i will talk about the toyota pick up truck box from 2002 though...imagine 2 18s stacked on the passenger side using 1/2 inch aluminum, a 1/2 piece of 13 ply birch then another 1/2 inch of aluminum....it was only as wide as the 18's. the rest was port. we dropped the floor of the 2 inched to make them stack, and filled that 2 iches with concrete, then used 2x2 square steel to build the sides of supports of the box, screwed 3 /4" mdf to the box steel then welded on thin guage steel and filled the void with concrete, then did the same to the floor and the back wall (back wall was moved in and out to see what box volume would be loudest and ended up with 9"s of concrete. then used 1/2 inch u-beam steal and filled the U part with concrete. box was between 40 and 50 cubic feet with a port i could sit in (6'2" 225 pounds)
then 16 BD 1500's, 16 custom batteries, and two quad voice coil 18's....150 feet of 2/0, and 1/0 for all the batteries and amps...these were all connected to a 2x2x36 solid piece of copper. ya that was a fun 9 hours i spend drilling, counter sincing and tapping the 36 holes in each of the 2 pieces (power and ground)
the truck was made front wheel drive only to make room for the batteries under it, the rear was air bagged and the axel was strengthend to handle the weight (around 12k pounds) the fuel tank was taken out in favor of a 1 gallon race cell under the hood with the 3 300 amp alternators.

the old truck had 3 door bolts that we used...the new scion however im not sure
i know scotts truck (the one with 13 subs doing 178's in USAC) uses air ram. so you push a button and 4 bolts on the inside of the door slide out to lock it into place..kyle could have the same type of setup as the scion was built in the same shop
