I would think damn loud.

I had 2 SPL-12's in the trunk of a Ford Taurus running off a measly Soundstream SA244 amp.

At 2 ohms they were getting 90watts max each. They could have used so much more.

Hit 128db.

I got my civic and redid everything .... Kicker 400.1 and a Eclipse Aluminum 12.

I still have the Soundstreams in the basement. I might break em out this summer and try them on my new Kicker 400.1 sub amp ... heheheheh.

WOW I heard they were really good, but you guys make it sound like they are the best. Well i was thinking of selling them, but im not sure what to sell them for. Once again , i have never used them, they are brand new and i bought them off a friend who also never used them.
He said he bought them for $800 , and he said he got ripped off. I bought them for $350 . If anyone is intersted let me know. Did I get a good deal on them????? Or did i get ripped off too??

I believe they are more of a competition type sub.

The 160's were the best in the SoundStream lineup.

Main features being:
- high efficiency 92db vs typical 87~89db (less power needed to get to full volume)
- small box size
- small surround / larger cone area

Their prices have come down a lot. I bought mine in '96. Back then a 12" was like around $300. All the local dealer carried was Crunch, Pioneer, Bazooka, and SoundStream. I went for the Soundstreams.

I used the two 12"s and a set of 4" Pioneer Components to make some really bad *** custom truck boxes (didn't have an extended cab). Separated the two internally and had a set of connectors for each speaker. Powered the subs off the amp and ran the components off deck power. Then I used the other amp channel to power a set of Pioneer 6.5" components up front in the door. Sounded good and man did it pound ......

I used to have two 12" MTX thunder 5000's in a sealed and internally divided truck box too. I had about 480 watts going to the subs behind the seat of a regular cab chevy S-10. After about 15 minutes you could not see straight, it would vibrate the hell out of your back. I can only imagine what those Sound Streams were like!!!
