2003 Civic LX 4DR Trying to put Components
2003 Civic LX 4DR Trying to put Components
I searched the forum and I found some members saying how they got EX sails with the tweeter to fit their cars and I wanted to try the same thing but when I went to the dealer they told me that it would not fit my 03 civic lx 4dr sedan (newer civics than 01 apparently have the tweeters on the door panel on top of the window power controls). So is the guy on point or he doesn't know what he's talking about? I really wanted to put a component speaker in the front without using the Q-form kick panel things from crutchfield($150 a piece). If anyone knows any other methods I would really appreciate it. Thanks for anyone's help in advance.
From what I've heard, they won't fit the sedans. I just did this with my coupe and they fit perfectly.
You could always surface mount them on your existing sail panels. A few members have very nice surface mounts. Gearbox is the only member that comes to mind at the moment.

its possible if your willing to do some custom fitting. it can fit, but making a flush and clean install is the hardest part.
i never seen the 03 sedan without tweets, so i cant compare.

I would rather try to cut a hole in the sail since it is cheap to replace. I don't know how much the doorpanel plastic would cost to replace (if i were to trade in the vehicle for an 06 or something). Is it feasible to cut in the sail panel or will i just end up messing up the mirror wires?

Or you could take the blank OEM sailpanel, put a surface mount tweeter holding ring that comes with your components on it with some hot glue, cut out the inside of the sail panel behind the ring, then wrap the visible portion of the sailpanel in some thin fleece or other material like an old tshirt, put some resin on it, lightly sand it once dry, and spray with black texture paint....and you have a custom, flush, nice looking (if you take your time) sail panel.
