Question How many watts?

Ok, quick backround. I bought an entire system (HU, components, amp, sub, and box) last weekend. However, I plan on returning my 2 10w1v2's and MTX amp , to get this....

2 10w7-3
1 500/1

Now my question is, if I bridge the amp, will I be sending 500w to each woofer since I will be cutting the ohm's to 1.5? Thanks.

I dont think that amp can do 1.5 ohms, BUT if it can (and your charging system can keep up) you will theoretically be delivering twice the power that you would at twice the resistance (3 ohms). BUT you have 2 subs now, so they will, in essence, be seeing the same amount of wattage.

I have heard that 1 500/1 PER W7 is a lot better match power wise.

Wrong.

That amp puts out 500 watts rms across 1.5 to 4 ohms reguardless.

One sub at 3 ohms, output is 500 watts rms, it gets all 500 watts rms.
Two subs in parallel at 1.5 ohms, output is 500 watts rms, each gets 250 watts rms.

FYI, I would probably go w/ one on the 500/1. It will be 100x better than the two w1's ever thought of being.

Also that is a mono amp. Is got one channel, there is no bridging ....

I got these specs from a online store. I bolded the print where it says PEAK POWER OUTPUT, which its rated at 1000w. That's why I thought it could send 500w to each sub. I'm not sure I understand but either way it looks like I want to buy another amp regardless. Thanks.

BTW.... I want 2 10w7's. I know one would be more then enough, but I'm like Tim Allen, "MORE POWER!"

You shouldn't really be looking at the peak power output, but rather the RMS.

Yes RMS power is what you look at.

If you want to run two 10w7's. I suggest you get a 1000/1 amp, and run the subs at 1.5ohms. Subs will sound like crap if you don't deliver with proper amount of power. 250rms for a w7's is not nearly enough power.

That's like saying I should run my 10w7 with a JL 250/1. I suggest you do more research before you do all of this. It seems like your not sure what you are talking about.

JL with your system, let us know how it all goes.

Peak power is only for a brief moment not a continous/RMS rating.

That's why I posted the question in the first place. If I'm not mistaken, asking questions is part of research. Now if I had done it first and then asked questions, that would be a different story. I've done plenty of research since I posted the question and this is what I decided.

For the time being I am going to go with 2 12w3's in the HO box, and a 500/1 until I can save money for 2 12w6's and a 1000/1.
