Angry passenger side power door lock problem

OK a few days ago I noticed that the passenger side door lock was not locking when I lock the doors manually from the outside. I have a 2001 Civic LX 2 door. I had taken to the shop and my warranty has already ran out by like 300miles, so anyways it costed me like 50+ bucks to have them look at it and they didnt even know what was wrong with it...they're just going to order a part and then install it. I said dont order coz I know I can get the part cheaper online somewhere and I cant imagine the power door lock being that hard to install. Who knows it could just be loose if anything, u know?

Im going to open the door panel this weekend and check it out. I was wondering if anyone has run into this problem before? Any help will be appreciated and I will keep u guys updated as to what happens when I open the door up. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure you can switch out the doorlock actuator with an aftermarket style one on the 7th gen civics. I've tried putting actuators on an '03 DX at work and it couldn't be done.

I am having the same problem with the passager side door. I have a 2001 EX. I took it to Honda and they charged me 85 dollars just to take off the panel and look what the problem was. I told them I would take off the panel and for them to just to see what the problem was. They wouldn't charge me less. I hate Honda Service. After they found out what the problem was (dead lock motor) they wanted to charge me 200+ just to replace and fix. I left without them fixing it. So its still broke. So thats whats wrong with mine. Good Luck.

In my 01 LX my drivers side door power lock F'ed up really bad when replacing the front speakers.
How I fixed it:

Kicked the door ~10 minutes
Cursed the whole time, and more before and after ~30 minutes
Pulled and pushed so hard I should have broken something ~10 minutes
Put door panel back on ~5 minutes
Bumped lock button on key fob on way to call garage ~5 seconds

For some reason after all the fiddling I ended up getting it to work by closing the door and hitting the lock button without opening the door or anything in between.

LOL nice one diskreet ;-) Hey texascivic thats what they did to me. I had my gf take my car to the dealership, since I was too busy at work with some projects. She got there and I didnt know my warranty ran out like 300miles ago, so they charged her 60 bucks to look at it and then another 130 to fix it. She didnt have them fix it, but now I owe my gf 60 bucks haha. Well, I looked at majestic and I saw an actuator for 20 bucks or so. If thats the problem though, so Im not sure. Im going to open up my door this weekend and check some things out. I could just get as lucky as diskreet haha. Ill take pics as well so people can see whats going with this problem
