my moms b/f has some 12" rockford fosgates hooked up to a 2000W kicker amp in an acrylic sub box in his benz. that thing pounds like a [explicit word here]. well, i have 2 12" pioneers hooked up to a bridged 760W pioneer amp. it has pretty good quality and can thump pretty good. you can go to my page if you want to see some pics.

Dual is pretty good, but sony is even better. If you crank on of those systems, you will turn alot of heads. And people will start screaming and cover their ears
And just for the record before I get flamed, yes I'm being sarcastic.

As a general rule, which means this is my opinion but most people can back me up:
JL Audio, Crossfire, Eclipse, Infinity, MB Quart, Alpine, Blaupunkt, and Clarion are the major brands and are very SAFE brands. What I mean is that if you get something of these companies you will most likely get an excellent product at a reasonable price for what you get.
Companies generally people love or hate and not much in between:
Pioneer, Kenwood, Rockford Fosgate, JVC (ok but my JVCs were good value but not great), Kicker (maybe more love than hate them), MTX (also closer to the companies above but i personally dislike their products)
Stay away from:
Aiwa, Dual, Sony, etc.
I personally have a Clarion DVD player, Eclipse speakers, JL Audio subs and amp, and have a Lightning Audio capacitor in my hand which will be installed probably next weekend. I cannot complain about any of these companies!

This is a very subjective question
Amps: JL, Soundstream, Zapco, Mmats, Crossfire, PPI(older, the new stuff sucks ***), I could go on
Subs: Image Dynamics, Adire Audio, JL Audio, DD, Memphis's Mojo(only this line), again, I could go on
Components: Focal, Rainbow, CDT, need I even say it?
Headunits: Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse, Nakamichi...........
Again, it's all personal preference when this question comes up. Your best depends on what you want, how much you're spending, etc. Being as you're driving a civic, I seriously doubt you have unlimited budget. If you do, why not spend the money on a better car? Regardless, ahve fun...

My personal opinion is as follows.
Subs: Infinity, JL
Amps: JL, crossfire, JBL (surprisingly)
H.U.: Clarion, Alpine
Speakers/Components: Eclipse, JL, Crossfire, Infinity
Capacitors: Lightning Audio
Power/Ground Wires: JL Audio, Stinger, (just about any are good)
Wire Terminals, Dist. Blocks, etc: JL, Stinger, Lightning Audio, etc.
Signal Cables (RCA): Stinger (love mine!), JL, Lightning Audio
HU/Speaker Brackets: Scosche
Wiring harnesses: All good enough
Sound Deadening: Dynamat Xtreme only. Nothing else is good enough for me.
You get the idea.

i always thought eclipse was pretty nice, although recently some kid told me that they are no better then kenwood, i disagreed but is it true? what would you guys say its closest to in HU quality and what about theyre subs and mids??
Eclipse for head units and DLS for amps n components...
check out www.dls.se
again tho, music is a preference, of course there will better quality stuff...but still...
its like asking someone what music you should play on your system...just aint right till you hear it for yourself...

Im not sure how big they are over there atm, but word is they have a few cars that will be doing the IASCA SQ rounds this season.
I`m running the 426 in the rear and the Ultimate Reference 6" in the front and the UR10 sub. They sound so smooth and hit hard.
Deff worth checking out if you can.
