you can find all this by searching, but I would start with the trunk lid itself. you can use foam to prevent the plate from hitting your lid. That'll kill the liscence plate rattles.
for the trunk lid, id use spray foam. you can get a can from home depot for five bucks. dont forget to mask off your rear windshield and open trunk while spraying, its REALLY sticky!
if you fill the gaps between your trunklid skeleton and trunk lid about 75% or so, and let that expand out, that will get a bunch of the rattles out.

i was just mess'n around n notice how when i apply pressure to the trunk it doesnt rattle n have a nice bass sound....so like wutta bout the spoiler? needs bout like 50lb of pressure to seal the trunk so the plate doesnt really rattle
so like i sat on the trunk n the rattle stop..then hop back down n notice how it rattle

like if a spoiler is bout 50lbs n is well screwed to the trunk then itll apply pressure but also should have like fruit of the loom surround the area where is screw on u think itll work like that ?
as long as the trunk is shut tight rattles doenst occur and those dynomat thing i dont noe bout those..
1 of the guys in here must have it..i wanna c wuts the outcome if u have it

I'm sorry, I dont mean to be rude, but I couldnt understand much of either of those two posts. could you rewrite tham?
If I understand corectly, you are suggesting a spoiler might help prevent rattles? It's a rattle liability, not a corrective. But I may have minsunderstood what you were trying to say.

okay, buddy translated for me, is it right to say you are suggesting that a good seal between the lid and body through the rubber grommet should be a sufficient rattle prevention, and that dynamat is something you are curious about the benefits of, given that the spoiler adds weight?
unfortunately, its not that simple. the major rattlein your car is probbaly caused by the lid skeleton vibrating agasint the trunk lid skin, and not the lid as a whole agasint the frame as a whole. pushing on the lid helps, since that will mash the skin into the skeleton, preventing their rattling.
dynamat may or may not help. I'm sure there are cases where dynamat has been successful, but Ive talked ot folks in here who were wondering why dynamat didnt help them! dynamat wont prevent lidskin and lidskeleton contact! So chances are, it wont help! the danger becomes what happens if you try dynamat and it doesnt help? now youve covered your access points to spray foam! just more work to cut out all the holes of dynamat to spray the foam...
I like dynamat, I really do! But I would spray the foam first, THEN lay the dynamat to make the inside of the lid look better.
but no, the weight of a spoiler wont prevent rattles, you'll get the testimony of dozens of members here telling you their spoiler actually added to the rattling!

I have dynamat, its quite effecitve, insulates the sound better but my trunk does still rattle
Dynamat works, I think our cars come stock with a similar material look under the trunk carpet I think on the right side of the spare wheel.
Well when I had it installed I went all out
Dynamat
Full trunk (sides, lid, under carpet metal)
Rear Quater Panels
All Doors
Behind rear license plate
Audioheaven did the work and did it well, took there time too.
If anyone wants pics I got some on my computer but nowhere to host em so just leave your email adress and I can show you.
As far as a spoiler reducing rattling, yes but I could only see it helping on the out side noise, if you push down on your trunk the bass will sound cleaner and have less rattle. Since I have no desire to purchase a spoiler I stopped caring about what my car sounds like on the outside, im happy with the inside.
I thought it always be funny to have a bumper sticker that said
"If this trunks rattling...
its just the midjet in the trunk trying to escape"

1. Search, there's a sound deadening DIY, look in the new sticky Megahurtz has at the top of the page.
2. One way (before doing any mat type deadener) to help is to move the trunk latch (which is in the DIY section at the top of the page when you click the DIY button) to tighten the seal.
3. Foam the lid (b/t skeleton and lid(as rabbit suggested).
4. Foam the back of the license plate.
5. Do the sound deadening DIY.
