building custom unenclosed subs....looking for suggestions
As of now, I have 2 8" Audiobahns, which are all right. I have, sitting in my living room, 2 12" JL's and a 15" JL, but recently I have lost my appetite for bass (passed through that fad I guess), but I still want more than my 2 8"s deliver. So I began thinking, and my friend has this 10" sub which is completely unenclosed. It's mounted sideways on a metal frame, with an amp also on the frame. Takes up almost no trunk space, and it really sounds great, but it was $350. So I got to thinking, and thought it would be possible to take my 2 12" subs, use a sort of horseshoe piece of MDF to mount them together (wiring them inversely so they move together and don't rip eachother apart), and hooking up my amp. My question is this: I don't know that much about this type of stuff, and would there be any problem with this setup? Also, I'm looking for an amp, around 400w RMS, that has a remote volume control, and any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

oh, also, the subs are 8-ohm, so that means I need to be looking for an amp with a power rating of more like 350-400 watts RMS x2, at 4 ohms, right? Cheaper would be greatly preferred.
