Rep Power: 762 get a power invertor specifically made for laptop
reason: power invertors put out a square-ish wave and that extended peak can be damaging to sensitive computer parts

Rep Power: 322 That should be perfectly fine, and especially if he has it sent through the a/c adapter before being connected to the laptop.
I would, however, recommend getting a regular dc-dc convertor, since i'm sure your laptop takes DC, it might be better just to get a nice regulated convertor.
