Anyone do audio repair?
I have 2 power supplies from PPI DEQ-230's that do not work. One heats up like it's on fire, the other doesn't even power up. Anyone into fixing them?

Rep Power: 328 I rebuilt my crossovers when some of the solder spots snapped... I'd be willing to give it a shot, but I can't gurantee a thing as I don't really know what I'm doing, electronics wise. I know how to fix the crossovers, but for something more complex I might have a problem.

Rep Power: 0 sounds like youre losing ground. check that ground again b4 hookin up another amp
as for power supplies, youll need to test all the MOSFETs in there.
MOSFET are usually identify as something like, IRFZ44(popular ones) or IRFZ34(older, less efficient)

Rep Power: 380 Yeah I have no idea about this stuff. The power supplies also have the RCA input and output on them so I need to make sure someone is experienced in repairs. Nothing looks snapped, broken, etc.

Rep Power: 0 no, the actual grounding to chasis. it sounds like you have a lose grounding or bad one. excessive heat or auto shut off could comes from ground. this happened to my PPI and had to secure my ground down.

Rep Power: 0 i thot thats the model for an amp, looked at it again and its digital EQ for DEQ....

The DEQ's do not require it. Many audio installs would put them up in the dash without the shroud anyway.
