Repairing Butyl Surround on subs

Alright, I posted about this earlier, but I havent' gotten any replies in awhile.

Here's what's what. I have 2 12w1s, one of them has picked up a small (2cm) tear in the Butyl surround. How do I go about repairing this. The subs are at least a year old.

Butyl huh.. well.. easy solution..never works as good as new..but it works..Swimming pool repair kit.. or any swimming pool store sells these.. just find the thinnest vynil patch you can. and use rubber cement(easily found in eveyone's household bicycle flat repair kit) and Patch the tear from underneath. Cut the vinyl pacth so that it's 1/4" wider than the surround tear on both sides. make sure it's also 1/8" longer on each side and rubber cement it on. Mostly likely besides looking at it, you'l never know the difference..(Unless it's in a serious SQ setup) but if it's just for bumping.. it's coo.

Cheers

all it takes is a little slip of the screwdriver and you are screwed. I found that RTV sealent works the best, and it comes in black, just rub it into both sides, and it looks and sounds like new. This works very well with the thin surrounds of component sets, trust me I know from experience

Slammed2k1: Im not hating, but how does nail polish remover help for a tear? Maybe you're thinking that nail polish remover helps for marks and stuff on the subs, in which case I'm gonna go out and try right now

Who posted anything about nail polish remover?? I said NAIL POLISH, clear most likely. Although remover should take marks off of subs too.
