Backup Sensors
Backup Sensors
Im getting my car tinted this week and figure I may as well get some back up sensors so I dont wrap my bumper around a pole. Ive never really driven with tints and I back up / parallel alot, especially at night.
Does anyone have one on their car?
Do you guys think the 4 dimples would look ugly?
Should I get 4 sensors or 2 sensors?
How well do they work?
Do they have to be mounted high or can I keep em low on my bumper?
Anyone know anywhere local I can buy these? As in north of the border
I found this
This dude has an option of pre painted silver which would save me the hassle of painting it, looks a little more oem. He wants an extra $15 for a total of 4 sensors and an extra $20 for the display.
Which one should I get?

This one also displays the outside temperatuer which is good when you live in Canada. However they dont mention what color they are so im assuming their black. I guess I could paint it but it would be nice if they came painted

Personally, I'd keep it on the bumper, as it's the rear most part on the car. And I like the fact that he'll paint the first ones, but the 4 sensors would probably be better. Aren't there already some civics that have the 4 dimples? Get one of those bumpers.
I havnt seen any civics with dimples, and theres no real way to flush mount these. Ah well at least it will be a little bit unique havnt seen any 7th gens rolling around with reverse sensors in Toronto.
And even if there was civics with oem dimples, the whole point of this is to save myself buying a new bumer
Going to go for 4 sensors, it will be a neat little gadget

Maybe I am wrong? I very well could be. I havnt seen any 2005 cdn civics with dimples, and im pretty sure I would notice em.
and about the license plate thing, Ive seen some sensors that snap on instead of being drilled in but they look even worse and I think its more of an option for leasee's

I've used poron micro 3 sensors on my Acura MDX. Nice feature is that it talks and says the distance besides beeping, and no need to install an lcd readout on the rear view mirror. I'm going to be installing one on my 2005 Civic 4dr sedan. I plan on putting the 3 sensors on the trunk lid bottom edge. It has plastic covers that can be painted to match the car color, or just left as black, and my civic is black. Question though: does anyone know the wiring for the backup light? The driver's side light has a green and a black wire going to it. Is the green hot? And is the black an adequate ground so I can just connect right to that socket from the backup sensor central unit?
Thanks for your help!
Thanks for your help!
if you know how to parallel park you won't ever curb your rims anyway
I would shop around for a better kit...the car audio shop I go to has ones that go on the inside of the bumper and sense the distance through the bumper so they are completely invisible.

I pretty much decided against thses, turns out my 35% tint on the back is perfect enough to use my reverse lights when backing up.
and yes if you know how to parallel you wont rash your rims. I had a great driving instructor who showed me a method that will ensure perfect parrallel parking every time.
1 Pull up to the car infront of the spot you want to pull in
2 Make sure you have about a foot of room (the closer to the car you are the closer to the curb you will end up)
heres the trick
3 Line up your right shoulder, the shoulder is key (or left if your parking on a one way) with the FRONT of his Rear Wheel Well.
4. TURN YOUR WHEELS ALL THE WAY WHILE NOT MOVING! I repeat turn them all the way around while going ZERO.
5. Start slowly backing up and swing it when you feel the front bumper will clear the other car. Our cars have super small front ends so its nice and easy
I parrelell park every day and this trick has never failed me, everyone i show it to thanks me for telling em

Ive also made a few jaws drop with regards to how tight spaces I can fit into, gotta love the mcpherson short front end setup
I use a similar trick for parallel parking...corner of the front side mirror gets lined up with the rear tire of the car next to you. Also taught to me by the drivers instructor, the rest is the same.
I do not have a link for those sensors, I just know the shop stocks them...

yes totally off topic
but back on topic those handy little ads by google at the top of the page led me to this
I think this is the one your talking about, 2 mounting points, either between the bumper and the crash bar or a hitch (which most of us probably dont have)
they claim it works as good as the dimples, dont know if I fully trust them on that one. Doesnt seem to display how much room you have just "3 zones of detection" and you have to be driving slow for it to work. I see all the new higher end bmws still have dimples so that technology is probably better.

looking at $249 usd however
