Fatmat vs. Dynomat?
Hey all, I bought a **** load of fatmat several years ago and finally got to putting the stuff on a month ago. I have been having problems with the top of my trunk vibrating like crazy with my 12w6v2 and it is loud. I have my trunk catch for the lazy tighted down even tighter but that doesn't fix the problem, nor does the fatmat. Will dynomat fix the problem? I don't know if dynomat is any better than fatmat. Thanks.
ive had both and neither one will ever stop it totally. the best thing you can do, and what i did, is buy some expanding foam insulation from home depot or lowes and spray it inside the trunk frame behind the mat. then all you need is a box knife and a tarp, and you can trim it down to where it looks nice. then put the fatmat over it. if you chose to do this, make sure to get a minimal expanding foam. they come in different levels of expansion and a little bit goes a loooooooong way. also, if you get it on, you probably wont get it off for a while.

Foam the trunk, and fill all the large gaps inside the trunk with foam as well. You're having rattle issues sounds like. Buy some weather stripping (I like the 1.4 thick 1in wide rolls) and adhere it to the back of your tag. Find everywhere metal is contacting metal, plastic on metal (rear deck), or there are gaps between metal panels and prevent them from contacting each other(or add a cushioning between them to absorb it.. All teh mat deadening in the world won't fix most vibration. It'll deaden the panels, but you can't make them not contact each other with mat deadener. Foam and rubberized spray are about the only ways to fix that. Another suggestion is to replace all of the washers for teh bolts in teh trunk with the washers that have the rubber on one side of them, or you could just add rubber washers between the existing washers and the surfaces they contact. It takes a while to replace all of them, but it's also worth it. There is more information in the deadening DIY, but this is a short list of things you can do to further deaden the trunk.
