circuit city warrenty question
ok i know there are some c.c. employees on this forum so i am throwing this question out to all of yall. I just recently bought (3-4 weeks ago) the jensen all in one screen/dvd player. I purchased the warrenty plan for it as well. I am having some slight porblems with the motor for the screen. when powered on the screen will not fold out on its own it will go appx 1/4 of the way out and stop. If i touch the side and guide it out a little more then the screen will come out slowly, when powered off the screen folds in like normal but just slower.
on a unit like this if i want to exchange it out is this something that yall ship away to fix or can i walk in and exchange it out for a new one? i would not want to return the wires and such just the actual unit so i can plug the new one in when i got it back.
just wondering b/c i knwo that my store doesnt carry many of them and i dont want to be without a radio/cd player for a long amount of time. and i am assuming if they fix it then it would take 3-4 weeks to fix min. and replacement would depend on the stock of the item? correct?
hopefully someone here can help me out and save me a trip to c.c.

i believe cc will send it out to the service center which will take about a week. then i would personally check with the cc you sent it out to and see what is going on with it. i'm pretty sure what will happen is that the service center will not be able to fix it and will give you a store credit for the purchase price of the unit. from there you can buy what ever with the store credit. now this is what i think will probably happen, there's no way to know for sure what will exactly happen.
If its within the first 30 days they will replace it with a new one. Since it was just christmas say you got it as a christmas gift and they should take care of it regardless. If its not in stock they can special order you one or have it shipped from another store. Just don't go in and freak out or they will be less inclined to help you.
what custom2k1 said is true, the jensen is usually a stocked item, i guess it depends on the store, the stores around me usually have them in stock. they should take a look at it and take it out and put the new one in.
mdb, you should get your friend to take his car back...they should look at the car and then see whether or not it's their fault or not. not even taking a look at it is horrible. tell him/her to go to the customer service desk and ask for the store mgr if they don't look at it. if not just as them for the 1-800 corporate #. it's call the cool-line, from there corporate will takeover and when the store mgr gets a call it's not the friendliest thing for the store.
