OMG! Um wow if I were a thief, it would be my lucky day (very lucky). Why not mount it in the glove box or even where the socket plug is below the console?

The remote doesn't work otherwise I would have put it in the glovebox..lol. I wanted to fab it below the console, but ill have to wait until the summer to do it......
not being a d|ck, but for the safety of your car and dvd player, i sincerely hope your windows are tinted and thieves cant see in your car easily, cuz thats very conspicuous. And i know it has a detachable faceplate, but many thieves will still gladly take a dvd player without the faceplate
post pics once ya get it fabd into the console!

I actually wanted to custom my cupholder so that when i press the button and let it open, the tv slides up so it can be seen by those in the car, yet low enough so cops driving by cant see it if its on/playing
but i figured i didnt wanna cut the inside of the cupholder and as a result, went with an indash screen
its a good idea still, id love to see it done

i was so close to going through with it, but really wasnt feeling the whole 'cutting the cupholder' aspect of the idea.
still, it would be amazing, cuz even if someone broke into your car, they may not check your cupholder for anything other then loose change. i loved the idea
but i ended up going with the indash and will soon be customing in my ps2... pics will be up as soon as thats done

Not sure why you would still need it, unless the DVD player only plays DVDs.

hehe. thats funny. Reminds me of how I used to install things. I had so many wires running around my car. Eventually I had like 15 extra 10' or 12' wires running to nothing. I finally got rid of every single wire, and rewired my ish a lot better. You should have seen my amp flying around in my trunk (not really). I had the amp lying in my trunk, every wire out and tangled, and 3 extras due to the cap. It looked like crappy crap. I finally mounted that inside my trunk under the carpet on the drivers side, made a new floor, ran the sub wires under that and cut holes directly under them so there is only an 1.5"s or so of wire showing. I feel ya on wanting to get things in your car, than not having any time to do anything else with it once its hooked up. I had my dash out of my car for 2 weeks to vinyl it, thanks to having 2 kids.

here's my old setup...the DVD/MP3/etc. player is in the center console, and the 5.6" monitor is in the glove compartment...when they're not open, it looks 100% stock, and both the driver and the passengers can easily access the unit in the console, so i didn't even bother with the IR remote eye or anything...
the pics suck because they were taken with a camera phone at night...but you get the idea...
i also flush mounted a pair of female RCA plugs into the monitor's bracket so i can hook up my video camera, digital camera, etc. and play the images on the monitor with 5.1 surround sound (they have the little black rubber covers on them in the pic)...

thanks!...it was a pain in the a$$ to do, but it came out awesome... alot of people think it's no big deal to 'glass a console like that...and if you have the skills, it's really not that hard...however, that's not fiberglass, it's white pine...the weather sucked too much to 'glass, and it took HOURS of sanding to get that flush fit... what about heat? That dvd player does it not have its heat sinks at the bottom? And vents on the top (where the carpet is) dont want this thing overheating
and yeah theives will gladly grab empty decks, can always find a face for em somewhere.
it wouldnt be a problem if the manus would just serialize the face plates, or atleast have a code system. Damn lazy manufacters (except eclipse)
