Busted Amplifier?

Hey all, a couple of weeks ago I posted asking you all whether my JL 12w3v2 was blown. Basically what it was doing was cutting in and out of play and sometimes when you press on the cone it will start to play again. Well you all said, and I thought, that it was blown. Well now I am not sure whether it is blown or not, since it will respond to the battery test. Anyways, I bought a new JL Audio 12w6v2 to replace it and I was temporarily going to run it off my Alpine M300 until I could afford a more powerful amplifier. Well, I get the new woofer in the box and I connect the M300 to it and the subwoofer plays for the first 10 mintues while I have my car on and tuning the amplifier. Well after I turned off my car and turned it back on later, the subwoofer wouldn't work. It wasn't blown of course, but wasn't getting a signal. I then turned to the amplifier, which has been doing something weird that I noticed even with my previous subwoofer. It normally puts out 14.4 V at a 2Ohm load which both my old and new woofer are wired to. Well, instead of putting out 14.4V, it has only been putting out 12V. That didn't seem right to me, but then I checked the RCA's to make sure that my HU was sending my amplifier a signal. I have another amplifier that runs my component set up front and I connected the subwoofer RCA's and then the subwoofer power wires to the 2/1 channel amplifier and the subwoofer worked. So the HU is sending a signal. I just want to get you alls input on this, but do you all think that my amplifier went bad? Keep in mind too that i have had it since the end of 2001 and I have used it very frequently. Thanks.
