Refurbished ice?

Is it bad that's something has been refurbished or remanufactured? I saw a dvd/lcd pioneer deck on ebay for $1000 when retail on new is $2000+. Makes you wonder tho cause there were over ten of these refurbished units on ebay.

i've bought thouands of dollars worth of subs, amps, coaxials, dynamat, etc. for friends over the past couple of years, and i've had virtually no problems...you do have to be very careful when buying refurbished/remanufactured head units, though, especially motorized units...i've only ever ordered 2 (a JVC Arsenal series and a Pioneer CD/MP3/etc), and both motorized faces went out within a couple weeks...i guess that's the old adage you get what you pay for...but as for subs, amps, speakers, etc., i say go for it...just check the seller's feedback ratings (good sellers will easily have 98% or 99% positive feedback)...look for "Platinum PowerSeller" status, etc, and i recommend buying only "BuyItNow" items...they're ususally still great deals, and they're the most likely to be good products...anyway, hope this helps...good luck!

Two of my amps are refurbished and my subs where openbox. No problems with any of it so far. If you are buying from a reputable source they usualy have a reasonable return policy on damaged goods. Like a 60 or 9 day warranty.

Refurbished from a STORE is usually ok, but I would be weary of refurbished stuff on the internet.

I personally wouldnt buy refurbished. When something is refurb, i think they usually fix whats wrong with the product, test it and sell it. I think more things can be damaged other then what they fixed. And with time, i think it'll break too.

That's why I got worried, because why would there be 10+ of the same thing all refurbished? It must have a problem if there's that many.

good thinking...but even if Pioneer made only 100,000 of those particular units (which i'm sure is way less than was actually produced), 10+ refurbs aren't that many...maybe the seller just has a good hookup from Pioneer...anyway, it all comes down to what you want: buying a new unit for $2k and avoiding problems, or buying a refurb for $1500 and then having to replace it for $2k if it jacks up...anyway, good luck!
