Have you ever set it to your "normal listening volume" and then gotten out of the car car and closed the door to see how loud it sounds to other people? I did that. You could hear it but it wasn't that loud when I was in a parking lot. Then I did it again in my parents garage and it was a lot louder. Must be echoing in the garage or something.

The worst is when your trunk rattles, but you have no idea about it. Only the people outside do. You sound and look like an idiot with your car rattling so much because to the people outside, it sounds like ***.

i cant hear anything when standing outside

but i can hear things from the outside while sitting in the car

I've done it to isolate external rattles on the car caused by the system, such as stuff under the hood, heatshields under the body, and mostly everything from the rear windows back...
