Anyone make a wall yet?
Anyone make a wall yet?
I'm going to be making a wall behind the back seat of my vic because i'm having so much trouble making a box big enough and with good enough air flow into the cabin to play as loud as it should. It's a DD9917 as some of you know and I had it in my tiburon before but there was much more room and it was MUCH louder in that car than what i can get in my civic and i've tried 3 boxes so far and none of which are even close.
The wall will be following the slope of the rear seats and i will also be covering up the 6x9 holes so that there is no transfer of air from front to back. I was wondering if anyone else has done this. Or has anyone seen or have pics of this?

I saw another pic with a setup like that as well a few days ago, but can't find it right now, if I find it I'll post it.
That setup got loud at dB Drag finals but personally I think it would be louder if you put both subs on the passenger side and the port on the driver side.
You sure that beast is even going to fit right there behind the back seat?
i did.
you are going to have a hard time finding enuff room for a 9917. you would be better off with a 15 using a bigger box.
took a week to get the 6 batteries, four amps, the box and subs in....45 minutes to rip it out.
got about 13 cubes before port displacement....i cant remember the dimensions...maybe 33x16...played at around 55-60hz and did a 156.7 first and only time out....unoffical..it was a work sound off event.

Hey alex thanks but i meant a wall in the trunk not the whole back half. MHZ thats what i was looking for. Also yes the 9917 beast will fit. I used to have my box facing forward but it sounded like @ss because of the airflow back into the trunk around the edge of the box. Yea, facing the box rear or up is good. But i think teh MOST efficient way is to wall off the trunk.
Alex, as far as not using the beast. Well...not using a $1600 sub is a bit crazy
But yea i'm gonna buy two 9512s soon for another install. Not sure if i wanna give my GF the 2 12s or the beast. hmmmmmm
Thanks for teh info all.

from what i've seen, theyve both bested their setups with boxes in trunk.
also, from the trunk you can still get plenty of space
I have done 6.2ish cubic feet inside the trunk without touching the spare tire well. I'm sure including the tire well you could easily do 8 cubes, although the install will be such that the only way to get it out will be by sedtroying it, but hey, if youre really so into the hobby, its not that much money if you think about it
my problem isnt entirely air space inside the box(but that is part of it). It's that since its an 18"(17.9) sub and it is so deep i do not have many options. I cant really mount it facing up or rearward because the speaker limits how small i can make the box in any one direction which in turn limits the size of the air flow passageways.
Right now my trunk is incredibly loud but not much of that is passing into the cabin. And i cant face the sub rear because of trunk clearance. Even if it did clear the trunk then I'd have NO space for airflow backinto the cabin. I'm thinkin my only option is to face sub forward and slant it so that i can get a little extra room for height.
