Has anyone upgraded their Alternator? ...what do you think of the difference...positive/negatives?

Negatives: Loss of hp
Positives: More amps that you prolly don't need anyway.

Ebay has an ungraded one for our cars.

i put a 140 amp alt in...did nothing. well, not that i noticed. the optima yellow top was my lifesaver.

yeah the battery made a WORLD of difference for me, but an alt would help even more IF the current draw warranted it.

If you are so concerned about HP, don't drive a Civic in the first place , in reality, how much do you really lose anyway?

I am just asking because this has been a hot topic lately. I do run a lot of wattage, but i don't nessecerily think that I need a new alt. My front stage amps are rated for about 1280 watts a/b 4-ohms in bridge mode, and my bass amp is 1210 watts class D (or I )...these are all according to birthsheets.

I'm using the group 51 yellow top and a cap and I can still see my interior lights dim a bit. I'm running a 500/1 and a 300/2.
