amp problems!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a JBL 1200 watt mono amp that I have not had any problems with for more than a year. I went to start my car and the battery was dead. I went to the trunk to get jumper cables and I saw that the power light on the amp was on. Now all of a sudden the amp stays on when I turn off the car! Does anyone know reason for the amp to stay on while the car is off. Also when I start my car I hear some thumping noises coming from my subs. Thanks Alot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 questions

1. are you sure it was the power led and not a protection led?
2. Do you have a capacitor?

Make sure your remote wire is hooked up to a switched source.

ya maybe the remote wire somehow came a bit loose and it could have bridged over to the power terminal?

even if it was the protect light it shouldnt be on if the amp is capable of turning on

definitely sounds like the remote wiring is wrong - it needs to be connected to a switched source not constant - or you'll definitely get battery drain. Switched means when you turn the key off, it turns off.

Unless it's hooked up to cap, hence my second question.
Recently, I saw that someone had their remote hooked up to a intelli-cap capacitor. It stayed on after the car was off. Funky wiring.

why would a cap be installed for a remote connection?

The cap probably had some sort of LED display that needed to be remote turned on/ off, and they could have jumped it from there.

i checkeded all the wiring by the amp and it is fine. It is the power light that is on and i don't have a capacitor. I also have a breaker switch instead of a fuse on the power cable.

check your remote wire, it HAS to be the remote wire, unless your amp is stupid and has found away around using it

Make sure the remote wire is hooked up at the other end from the amp to a switched source.
