I'm not big on EQ and X OVER settings in HUs. If I didn't buy amps with good crossovers, I'd buy a good crossover. I almost always defeat all the settings on my HU. Alpine has a nice feature called, Defeat. Where by setting that on, you can just eliminate any xovers or whatever from the HU.
yea i know the basics, but there all these functions on top of the basics
bass:
Bass center freq. Range: 60/70/80/100 or 150 hz
bass level: -8 -- +8
Bass Q factor: 1.00/1.25/1.50/2.00
Bass Extend: on/off
mid:
middle center freq. Range: .5/1.0/1.5/2.0 khz
Middle Level: -8 -- +8
Middle Q Factor: 1.0/2.0
treble:
Treble center freq. Range: 10.0/12.5/15.0/17.5 khz
Treble level: -8 -- +8
On top of that, there are these functions:
front high bass filter: Through/40/60/80/100/120/150/180/220hz
rear high pass filter: Through/40/60/80/100/120/150/180/220hz
non-fading low pass filter: 50/80/120/through hz
loudness
wow
trubass
focus
srs
volume offset: -8 -- +=0
non-fading level: -15 -- +15
non-fading phase: normal (0 degrees)/Reverse (180 degrees)
I have seen some very intelligent comments to tech. questions on this board.Someone must know what these mean!
Please help me out. thanks in advance

That means you've got some problems in your system somewhere, more than likely you don't have a properly set crossover. All you should NEED to get your sound to not be 'Shtty' is a well set xover, a good install and good equipment. If you are using EQ settings to fine tweak thats one thing, if you are using your EQ settings to mask bad sound, well thats like wearing extra cologne cause you forgot deodorant. . . Why don't you commit to getting it set right, start a thread and we'll all help you.
This is not to say that you SHOULDN"T use EQ settings on your HU, but you shouldn't NEED them.

Ok then i will start with this. Here is the equipment that i have:
Kenwood Kdc-x869 head unit
Mb quart 6.5 components pce-216 in doors with tweeter attached to the speaker
Boston acoustic 6X9 3 ways
Precision power 300/4 amp (interiors)
jbl 300.1 amp (subs)
2 10 infinity ref. in a custom made sealed box
As far as the crossover goes on the quarts, i have never done anything to them. i have left them on whatever the dealer set them at. To be honest i wouldn't know the first thing about messing with them.
well here is a start!
questions, comments are much appreciated
