lol isnt there an easier way to measure it. what i am trying to do is make an encolure that will fill in the area right behind the back seat. the back will be pretty much square. once i get to the sides of the trunk, then its starts to bubble up for the suspension. i was just wondering if someone has already done this and just give me the volume of their box. do i really have to sacrifice true sound for looks???

yeah, 1.6 cubic feet. 1.6 cubic inches wouldn't work to well.
Lol I the sub wouldnt even fit in there... the screws to hold the sub in wouldn't even fit in there :P

oh, I know, build it, fill the box with cats, then take the cats out and see how many cats fit in a 1 by 1 by1 box and divide the number of cats that fit in your box by the number of cats that fit in the cube. theres your answer from my smart-A$$. LOL

You could build the enclosure, then fill it with water 1 liter at a time till you figure out how many liters it is. most sub spec sheets will list the cubic feet with the liter conversion.
You can't really calcualte it if it's a wierd shape, you just gotta guesstimate and hope for the best.
I usually just estimate.
Its mostly a matter of peak performance versus looks. its not too big a deal, ive found, to sacrifice a small bit of the woofer's potential, be it max volume potential, or widest passband of frequency response possible to achieve a bitchin looking enclosure.
you can fine tune by filling the box, using fiberfill, invert mounting or standard mounting the woofer, there are all sorts of things you can do to fine tune that tenth of a cube to get the performance you want.
