Custom V-TEC light badge!
Custom V-TEC light badge!
Don't know if this is the best place for the post...but here it goes!
I was reading about the DIY for the Vtec light, and got thinking. I love to mod computers (hell of a lot cheaper than modding cars) and I have used these case badges before:

The company can make custom badges, so I was thinking of getting one with V-TEC on it with a blue light.
Is this ghetto or not, and I was also wondering where people have mounted their lights. The badge is 1"x1" so I need a spot that is relatively flat.

I should have clarified. This would go insie the car not on the outside....that would look fricking stupid on the outside. I just figured why would someone want to look at a little small LED when you could look at a small, sexy badge that said vtec when it kicked on.
I think it's only far off the rice meter because it's HUGE!! But hey, who am I to judge? It's a conversation piece anyway, and definitely unique.
I want to have the Civic where computer and car modding converge. I'm all about neon behind etched plexiglas and all of that junk.

Just to clarify the size of this thing....it is only 1"x1" and by the time they etch the word vtec on it, you are only talking about letters that would be around 1/2" high. It is bigger than an LED got not huge.
Since it is a computer mod...would it be considered rice or geeky?

I think your idea is great. Its better than just an led that lights up when vtec kicks in. I say you go for it.
If you like it, that's all that matters. I definetly like the idea though.

Sorry about the confusion.
The link above just shows you the stock badges they have and what it looks like being backlit. Here is the webpage that has the custom stuff on it. The case badge is at the very bottom.

I was even thinking of getting the Bio-Hazard symbol with vtec underneath it...maybe in red! That would be sweet!
I won't be doing this for awhile until the wife and I get some bills paid off and she lets me start buying things for my car, so if someone else does it first post some pictures for all to see!

i think its a great idea, i wanted to do that with mine but i couldnt think of a way to do it. i mounted mine in the center console by popping out one of those blank plates and snapping an LED holder into it. looks pretty clean imho. if you could get that company to make you a small enough vtec badge, you just might be able to mount it on one of those. youd have to be pretty good with a dremel though because those little plastic plates have a lot of "baffles" and stuff on the back of them (ie: they arent flat) and youd need it to be flat so light would shine through evenly. its a possibility if you are determined enough and i think it would be sweet
this is where i mounted mine.

or it says "VTEC Engaged" and then another one that comes on "Please Fasten Seatbelts" and maybe one that says "Ready For Takeoff"
edit: although i think the whole... VTEC thing coming on when you hit vtec is a pretty neat idea and if I had vtec i would try it..

At first i thought you were just gonna have a light that say vtec in the car, but when it lights up only when vtec kicks in, thats ill
if ya do decide to go for it, ill probably want in on this project too! Sounds pretty safe

I just love how self-deprecating we Honda drivers all are. It's wonderful that we have no illusions about exactly what sorts of things our cars can do, and "taking off" isn't one of them!
I clashed with this Nissan chick the other day who staunchly asserted that her lug nuts take more torque than my Honda puts out. I respectfully agreed and then I respectfully asked her to go to hell. I love my little Honda.
