Inverter Hookup - Turning on and off via ignition.
I plan on installing an inverter in the trunk 12VDC to 120VAC.
--- The wattage options will be 200W, 300W, 700W (undecided).
How can I safely connect the inverter so its controlled by the ignition?
What size of wire should be used ?
Currently there is a 4 guage power wire from the battery
running from the head unit powering an alpine amp.

I don't want to accidentally leave it on while the car is parked. It _must_ not be able to power on without the key.
After more research, from what I understand, we can tap into IG1 from under the steering column (black w/ yellow stripe). Can someone confirm this? Where would the relay go?

you shouldn't have to go all the way down there, if you have an amp already, you can tap the remote line, or just tap the cig lighter. Run a line, somethign small, 18 ga or so from the cig lighter, connect that to the relay where your invertor is and have the relay switch the power wire on and off.
