Slot port question

I have never built a slot ported box before. If I were to build one, would it be ok to build on similiar to the one I am attempting to diagram below...the inside port wall will prolly be about 12 inches or so long and 2 inches wide in abox that is like 25 inches long...or am I way of on a the general structure of a slot ported box (does there need to be more then one port wall)?

Thanks Ed, that is it!!!!! ....my port will probably end up being only about half the legth of the box (because the box will be long).

...anywayz, does anything seem wrong with that setup?

I have the same style box for my 15". I reccomend it totally! if you build it right it should rock. My port was so long that I had to make an "L" shape into the box and it sounds great. What subs are you gonna use? I can get you the type-x now if your still intrested but from what Im told they only sound good at 60hz and below so you may have to use a mid-range sub.

Thanks Wes, but i think I am gonna stick with my IDMaxes. I just dunno if I want to keep it sealed for daily driving or ported, so that I can enter comps. I had it ported for a weekend and it was outragously LOUD (plus I hated the box too)...I dunno

I'd probably do the port in the center, but that's just me.

Yeah, me too...but I need every inch I can get...and that would make the box longer.

that boxplan works like a champ, and is very common. if you decide your port needs to be uberlong, you can fold it, like in this picture:

be sure to read up on "Effective Port Length" so that you can get your tuning right

LudlamTheory is an unknown quantity at this point
other way to get tuning right is with a multimeter sir. put the box together sans glue and just trim off or add one as you need for port length.
multimeter at amp outputs, set all equalization to flat, sweep tones, where ac voltage reads absolutely lowest (should dip real quick) is your tuning frequency.

you by chance doing 2.5 @ 28 hz?

also, have you looked into dctt's?
you seem like the type that would adore a dctt

http://www.diysubwoofers.org/prt/dual_chamber.htm

you can tune down low and up high

That is an interesting box type...I am looking to have as much output without having to use to much space.

...probably about 2.3-2.5 per sub tuned to between 28-30.

...I may just stayed sealed for now...but start to rebuild my trunk slowley.

effective port length is easy. Take a tape measure and wrap it through your port from end to end. It just needs to equal the length you're looking for.
