Those removed their stock speakers....1 question
I checked on the k-series.com website, there tutorial on how to remove the stock speakers.
Once thing i am worried now is that i need to trim the speakers out
I am shocked if i have to trim my doors
Tell me i am reading this INcorrectly!? This is for a Honda Civic SI, but mine is an EP1 03. So the only phyisical differance i can see is that it has tweeters and mine doesn't.

Now get the Template and trace the pattern on the door. Cut the door to fit the speaker. We used tin snips.
NOW IS A GOOD time to Dynamat the door as well as the mounting area. DO IT . A job worth doing...

you dont have to cut your doors like in the pictures, you will most likely just have to use a spacer. local dealers will most likely have some in various sizes, like 1/2", 3/4" and 1". i'm using 3/4" made from mdf.
Spacers, yes i've heard off. So from the tutorial

Do you think its just because there using a different size speaker?

its easier to cut lines radiating out from teh speaker hole, like rays from the sun rather than cut a bigger hole around it, unless you have access to an air body saw.
then you can just hammer back the tabs till the magnet of your new speakers fit.
this method pretty much requires the use of a spacer, however.

Stil ltrying to figure out what your trying to say exacrtly, but do you think if i get some 9 1/2 as they mentioned in the tutorial (stock size speakers) i don't need to trim my door out?
Hey
What I did was took the factory speakers out and since they used these cartrige looking things, I just cut the speakers out of their housing(will destroy the factory speaker btw) and just fit in the new one...just had to drill a few holes for the screws, wasn't too bad at all and fit right back in like the factory ones. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.
good luck

the problem is that the hole is WAY small, and the magnets on most high performance aftermarket 6.5's are way too large for such a small hole.
even performance 5.25's are too large for the stock hole.
good luck though, im sure some people didnt trim out the door

Thanks for all the responce, but i'm still worried about what i can do and don't want to do. I need some speakers, and i have about 2 weeks to order them and have them fitted. SO now i need to know what speakers to get and if it requires any 'trimming' ?
I think it's unavoidable. I didn't even try installing my Boston 6.5's myself, as I didn't have access to the proper tools. The installer was able to enlarge it enough for a spacer, but I can convert back to stock if I need to.
LIke I said before, you don't need to trim the door, just convert the factory speaker to fit the aftermarket speaker, I did it to mine and I put in Polk EX 6.5 components and they fit right back into where the factory speakers came out
Spacers should be readily availble at most car audio shops. I picked up mine at my local shop for a few dollars. They actually didn't have them but called up a nearby shop that did.
