Need tweeter mounting suggestions
Need tweeter mounting suggestions
I got a set of used Q-forms. There was a hole for a tweeter, but the hole is 2" wide. My tweeter is only 1". I have none of the mounting hardware form these tweets. I don't know how to get them mounted in that hole?

hey derek, sorry i forgot to PM you. i got a pair of the diamond audio hex tweet cups, i'll send them to you on monday.
i emptied my PM box, so PM me your address again.
the tweeter cup will mount perfectly in the hole, and then hopefully, you will only have to worry about how to secure your tweeter in the cup
what kind of tweeters are they anyways?

Since the holes are two big, IMO I think that no matter what you do it is going to look ghetto or it will cost you more money and time then it is worth. BTW, Sounddomain sells kicks for $130 I think.
What you may want to think about is rear monting a thin black piece of plastic to the hole (with some krazy glue), and then install the tweet on that plastic. Then cut lil, evenly space holes or lines (like sunshine) around the tweeter in the plastic between where the kick ends and the tweeter begins. Then you can put some neon or strobing lights in the kicks and they will shine out from beneath the tweeter.
Yes, this is ghetto...but it is an idea...and like I said above, i think it will look ghetto no matter what.

I have the Boston Pro 6.5 set.
I know they sell them, but I got these for $50.
I emailed Boston to see if they would send me the mounting kit and grills for the tweets.
Maybe I can get i 2.25" grill to cover the whole thing, then none of the ghettoness would show. hmmm.... grill search time

heres what i did when i put the third tweeter in my q-form set
i glassed the hole shut and cut a new hole, and it looked like butt, so i carpeted the kick to match the stock floor carpet.
your other option is doing the same thing, except instead of carpet, use paint...
i have a nice black paint you can use for interior panels D
get to me on msn later

Another idea would be to put something else in the hole besides tweeters that are either the same size or bigger (like lights), and put the tweets in the sail panels. Or you could make lil two inch ports for your mids (that would look so cool, but would take a bunch of reaserching on what would be a good frequency to tune you speakers)
Judging by your choice of tweeter, you like your highs loud (like me)...so the sail panel might be a good place for you. My friend has Boston Pro tweets in his sails, and the are LOUD!!!

Have you listened to them there yet? I have my speakers in the OEM locations and there is only a *slightly* noticable seperation problem...you might not even notice it. If you want everything in the kicks I would suggest either the new grill solution, or fiberglassing the hole....
i didn't have them there, but had them beside the door handle. plus the mids would be further away then when they are in the door panel.
I am getting a mounting cup from slick, that is where i got these from. gonna see what i can do with that.
