my plans...want comments and suggestions
I was reading the april/may b/scene and there was a blue 99 civic in there that kinda gave me this idea, but i wanted to do something a lil different. i want to put two 12 inch subwoofers in the back and get a spare tire that are just like the ones i have now. I want to have a fiberglass enclosure and have the spare tire in the middle, the two 12s on each side and the amp in the middle under the spare tire. Im not sure how to do this myself. I just want to see what everyone thinks of this and if you have any suggestions. And is phoenix gold a good brand to get? Thanks for any comments.

i liked the one where it was a black 7thgen in honda tuning, it had like 18 silver wheels b+g coilovers and venom, and some other stuff as well, when they first came out, that had a 17 inch spare and two amps on the side and two 12 i think too, it also had a kenwood naviagation thing in the back as well molded to the top, if you can get a pic of that i think you would like it
i prefer installs woith hidden stuff, myself, if theres too much to offend the eye, it jsut looks like a mess.
the only other issue is that if you like to tune often the amp is TOTALLY inaccessible.
but if youve got like a full size spare with a few-spoked rim matching whta you have on the car, with lots of open space to see the amp through, and a DEAD clean and unused tire, it could look really sweet, too.....

itd be tricky to sink the subwoofer under the spare, but it sounds like something I'd totally want to build
if you got the fabrication skills and the creativity to do it so it looks good, I say go for it

if you did that, id get one 12, and hide EVERYTHING else. that way, the eyes are drawn exclusively to the rim thats making bass.
what? theres a subwoofer under that? *inspects closer* oh cooool!

okay, check it out, here you see the spare tire, three 10's, two amps, and the future location for both an EQ and epicenter. Here is why I dont like installs that "show everything"
notice the spare tire well leaves this gaping ugly hole in the install? adding extra lines that dont need to be there! not to mention a vinyl discontinuity!
notice the flat sidepanels that house the amps? they draw the eyes away form the focal point of the install, the sexy way he installed those w6!
which are fantastic, I agree, but look! he decided carpet was ho hum, so he did it all in vinyl! doesnt it look tacky and "not clean" when on a background of carpet for the seat backs?
make it match, and make it clean, and it will look good, even if it is carpet, even if only some parts of the install are visible.
or even if nothing is visible

if you wanted to see the rest of the vehicle and install "evolution".....

the links only work if you copy them into a window then go, you cant jsut click open them, geocities doesnt work that way.
It would cost $650 to get it done by a shop, in exclusively carpet.
thats JUST for the box. no equipment, not other labor. JUST box cost.
about $1200 for vinyl. about $1500 in paint.
thats *just* the box.
ive written at least 3 DIY's how ot do this however, simply search it out. itll requite a little creativity to modiy it to use a spare tire with rim to function as the grill and look good, but im sure if you can understand the DIY youll have more than enough talent to accomplish such a task!
