Need help hooking up cd/mp3 reciever

Okay, so i got this pioneer premier deh-p840mp off ebay for $285 shipped. The guy was cool and said it was 1 month in use and works great. Well when i get the deck, i look at the wire harness and the yellow wire (memory wire) was suppose to have a fuse connector on the wire. it looked like he chopped it off. Will that not make the cd player work. Also i went to a audio store to buy a wire harness to hook up the cd player and they told me I had to keep the oem deck so they tried to sell me a double wire harness when it connects to the oem player and the new deck. I told them you dont have to have it. Well i need help with my situation.

You do not need to keep the oem deck. That was only the case with older civics to keep the keyless entry. Just go to pioneer's website and order a harness from their store. It will work without a fuse, but if there's a surge, your deck is dead.

get a fuse...don't risk it... pioneer should sell those fuses too! if not, u can try going to like bestbuy, or circuit city and see if they have some kinda fuse that'll work with that head unit.

btw...that unit is pretty cool .. good buy! Only problem is mp3 cd reading capabilities aren't that great, if u have a small scratch, it sometimes won't read it.

My Kenwood's harness was damaged when it was removed from my previous car. Circuit City had the right one for it for $10. Use a fuse, that will save you some heartache later.

Also, I just looked up on ebay and they show a 16 Pioneer harness good for 2002 and 2003 Pioneer units for $6.99 shipped. Look up "Pioneer Harness".

My harness also has some kind of black box attached in addition to the fuse. I would be safe and get the whole harness new, otherwise you risk ruining the deck.
