MP3 Head Units
Anyone have one?
Well I was just wondering what is the best one for the buck. I'm really thinking about getting one since my hu is a piece of ****. I would love one that has subwoofer controls also because that would help a ton!

i have a clarion dxz835mp and its an mp3 player, but its one of the more expensive clarions (thats if you buy at a local store, on the net its less than $300).
most of the new clarion pro audio units have a sub level control toggle switch right on the face of the unit, thats my favorite part about the unit.
the 735mp is one step under the 835mp, still plays mp3's.
whats the budget?
alpine has a low cost mp3 player also, the 9807, looks like a nice unit.
from pioneer you got the 5500mp and the 7500mp.
these are all nice imo, but i got a new recommendation, wait until next year. CES is in january, thats when car audio manufacturers show there new stuff, so i would suggest to wait, see whats new, and them make a decision.

i like my buddys cheaper alpine deck (280 retail, forget the model and am lazy) for mp3 controls. you can play the entire disk at random, something my excelon won't (only by folder). but it has a slot for the CD on the front of it (smaller and fewer buttons then) and not quite so many built in crossovers. mine has +/- 15dB sub controls, and crossovers for all the speakers (front rear and sub). just do yer homework to get everything you want, there are too many choices out there.
I have a picture of my JVC mp3 headunit in the "my ride" tab. I think its great, it never skips, and very easy to use. Its about 350$ retail. I bought it for 350$ since I couldnt find it cheaper any where else. Comes with a remote, its very tough and sturdy. I love it, WAAAAYYYYYYYY better than my aiwa mp3 player. So, I def recommend the JVC mp3 HU.

Avoid sony at all costs!!!!!!!
Also avoid newer kenwood decks, as their quality is slipping.
I have a pioneer 940mp and love it. It has everything you'll ever need. In your price range, eclipse may be a good choice. Alpine has some of the fastest and easiest mp3 navigation.

Yeah, my higher end pioneer deck takes more than a minute to load a cd for the first time, and a few seconds to switch songs. Not a big deal for me cause the deck is sweet. Alpine has by far the best mp3 interface and loading speed. My brother had a mid range model and he can just turn a dial to scroll songs WHILE the current song is still playing!

My HU works perfectly. It plays CD's ,MP3's ,DVD's and scratches my nutz too. No delays of any sort. The only downside is that I could have put a down payment on a condo for what i payed for it. I reccommend the Alpine IVA-D900
I got the Alpine CDA-9813, I have tried burning 2 Cd's with Mp3s. Both don't work and read error? I'm gonna try burning it as a "data cd" instead because I have been burning it as an "Mp3 CD"

the cda-7995 is a great unit, just remember that it is a dead head, no internal power (i think thats one of the reasons its so good).
