fatmat installation instructions missing; any help?

i bought the bulk pack for fatmat (36sq ft), and it didn't come w/ instructions. i installed about 2-3 layers on my trunk lid, now i have about 6 layers left (18x32 inch squared each) should i just add more layers to the lid, or put them all over the trunk sides and floor? its a great product, but i dunno much on deadener position strategy or instruction.

also, consider that altho i can't hear any rattle inside my car, when i stand outside the car, and behind, the trunk lid itself doesn't rattle, but there's a rattling sound coming from teh trunk. i think it may be the wires and stuff, but my friend said it could be cuz i have a very strong sub (diamond tdx 12in, 4 ohms 1000W rms, with ppi amp 500W 4 ohms), and that there needs to be tons more work to stop the rattle on the outside compared to other subs, even w/ dynamat/fatmat and wire taping.
when i put my body weight on the trunk lid while it is closed, the rattle decreases, but it still rattles. so, i dunno if i need to add weight (the 6 layers left does not weigh anythig near my body weight!) should i just add more layers to the trunk lid before i use the remainder around the trunk floor and sides, or will that be a waste, since it doesn't weigh as much as me? i'm also considering taking apart the trunk and tape all the wires inside tight, but i can't find a diy on how to get access to those wires. i'm still NEW to car audio, i only got the sub and the amp b/c i was lucky enough to find a guy to sell it to me for dirt cheap, not b/c i did my research (i didn't know that diamond audio and ppi was a good company until some friends of mine who knew a little bit on car audio saw the logo on my sub after i had it installed)

It takes a great deal of time, effort, money, and sound damping material to make your trunk completely stop rattling. Between loose screws/bolts, wires, body flex, etc.. it's pretty tough.
At MECP school, we ripped apart a guys Audi TT and dynamated the WHOLE thing.. trunk, trunk lid, rear deck, headliner, floorboards, firewall, and under the hood... No rattles though after that! Good luck with your project..

Use some tape to hold down the wires inside yer trunk lid. If yer trunk lid is rattling you could buy some automotive weatherstripping and put it on the edge of the lid near the rear window. Also, do you have the jack tools in yer trunk? Those rattle too :P

Oh and also did you remove the air pressure flap thing from the driver's side in the trunk? That rattles like a bitch..... need to remove that and cover up the hole with some mat.

there is a flap on the drivers side on the trunk. i fiberglassed mine closed. as long as it doesn't move or let air flow in and out, you can atpe it, or whatever. that should solve a lot of the noise you are hearing outside the car.
