Is this a do-able thing?

I was wanting to upgrade my speakers in my 03 EX, because I think the stock ones are shizat. I want to keep the stock head unit though. Now, my question is: Would it be possible to upgrade my 4 speakers and power them with an amp while still keeping my stock HU? Here's what I'm getting:

2 Rockford Fosgate 3-way 6X9 FRC3369
2 Rockford Fosgate 3-way 6 1/2 FRC4306
Rockford Fosgate 501X 4-channel Amp

Thanks.

the stock HU doesnt have preamp outputs...but you can get adaptors that you connect to the speaker wires that convert them to low-level inputs for an amp. My advice is to, instead of getting amps for your speakers, just get a new HU. It will come with a much better amp than stock, and if you later want to get even better amps, you have preamp outputs on the back of the HU.

alex053 will become famous soon enough
you can do it off your stock head unit with adapters like was said above. do yourself a favor and put the adapters behind the headunit..that way when you upgrade, the rcas are right there.

as far as the adaptors, they will run you $25-$30 for one, which does a stereo signal. If you want to amp the front and rear separately, you'll need two; You're looking at almost $60 just for the adapters...you can get a new HU with preamps for like $100, so I don't see why you would do it this way; but hey, its your car, do what you like.

darklegacy540 is on a distinguished road
Just get a new HU too lol Better sound quality, more features, and what I personally think is the most important thing: higher preout signal voltage...

actually, you only need one converter. at our shop we refer to them as high-levels, but the name is irrelevant. and you only need one, no matter how many amps you are using. just have to get splitters for the rca's.
