RCA Cable Quality

Alright, well I tried to search some on this but couldn't really find what I was looking for. I'm wondering if there is any difference in sound quality between different RCA cables. Like if everything is top of the line and you use cheap cables would you notice a difference if you step up to expensive cables? I've heard people say there is and isn't, so I'm just curious what the general consensus is out there. I ended up buying some good quality hooker RCA cables the other day for my speakers in the car and then a cheap one for my sub, but I guess I'm kinda wondering if it was worth it. I got a good deal on them anyways so I'm gonna keep them, but I guess it would help more for future reference.

alex053 will become famous soon enough
most people will notice the difference between $5 and $50 cables but not $50 and $500. i would go with the mid line cables....get some noise rejection, better connecters, ect...dont let it be the weak link.

i always say your system in never as good as it's weakest component. that can be taken several ways though. i just think there is no point in having a $5,000 system with $10 walmart RCA's, just like you don't need $100 RCA's with a $200 system. mid grade is was to go, in the end with either hi quality or low it comes down to the install.

well, in teh past, cables CAN and HAVE made a difference, but not neccesarily.

my buddy had endless noise problems in his car, we swapped his monster cables for the ones that came in his audiopipe wire kit, noise went away.

I can also show you the SQ trophy I won running radioshack RCA cables.

so the cheap cables have potential, but thats not to say they will always have the potential!

more important than the cables is where you route them, IMO. you can make a setup with cheap cables sound as good or better than a setup with expensive cables, if you route the cables where they will have little interferance where they can pick up noise. remember, the install is as important as the components/parts you use.

very very true, i've got pretty expensive monster cables but i still spent a good deal of time re routing my cables and wires to get rid of noise. i'm sure it would have been worse though with the cheap ones i used to run. install install install.
