help with hissing
Have you upgraded the grounding under the hood? I know I had some mild hissing that went away after adding some 4 guage under the hood and yer sure as hell pushing more watts than me.....
I know that the stock under the hood should be enough, but maybe you've got some corroded wire, ground point or some **** in there. Just thought I'd throw up another idea.....

Damn, it is finally over!!!!!! The noise is gone!!! I still get MINOR (usual) hissing, but the staticy hiss that i would get after driving my car around is gone (atleast after driving my car around for week with no problems).
So this is how I got rid of the hiss...I sent my crossover back to Audiocontrol, and instead of them saying that they "soldered" a few cold joints, they replaced the inside circuit boards...and guess what, no hiss...damn, i sent my ish in 3 times and finally got it back working correctly. I just wanted to make sure that it was not my fault before I sent it in the 3rd time to Audiocontrol. Damn, it was a pain, but I handled myself very well and didn't go off on anyone at Audiocontrol (mainly because of the reputation that their products have, and because I was not a 100% sure it was the x-over causing my problems).
So all is good, except for the fact that when Audiocontrol replaced my circuit boards they kept my 80 and 20 hrtz modules, and those two were bitches to find in the first place...but they are supposed to mail them to me.

Fonto - I'm a little late responding, but ran into a similar issue with my last vehicle (a 1996 Neon) for which I had an active crossover wired betwween by head unit and amps. Took awhile for me to diagnose - I defeated it using an Ground loop isolator I bought from radio shack. It died in 2001 and the replacement Sony crossover I bought didn't need the isolator - which told me it was simply an issue of a crappy component.

I've been getting a "buzz" sound lately, which only is on when my engine is running... I never had this problem before and haven't changed anything and then one day I heard it... it really sucks, hope its not my alternator. I might try some of the suggestions here to see if that helps....

my buzz went away... i wondered where it went.
but seriously, i redid my ground with a thinner strand wire and moved some wires around. however no matter what i do, somethings make the noise come back: cold weather, blasting music right after starting the car, and driving the car hard.
