I think I solved my hiss problem after 1 year and 3 months!!

So I recently hooked-up my new JBL 180.2 amp and my midbass. The midbass are not getting enough power in my opinion, but I digress. I have always gotten a lot of hiss from my system ever since the day I installed my Audio Control x-over and JBL BPX 600.2. I always assumed it was my crossover because my x-over had made this other funky noise that I got fixed by audiocontrol...and I never thought the problem originated with the amp. For over the past year I have kept my gains really low to avoid hiss, but I was getting tired of it. So Anywayz, I hooked my new JBL 180.2 amp to my comps and I cranked up the gain...low-and-behold, the hiss was gone!!!! So this pretty much rules out the crossover and everything else besides the amp.

Ok, so this is what my plan is:

1. I am going to use the JBL BPX 600.2 on the midbass. The amp is noisy, but I prolly won't be able to hear the noise as much coming from the mid-bass speakers. Plus, the amp puts out about 200 watts per side, which would be perfect for my midbass.

2. I order a Phoenix Gold TI 600.2 for my comps. Hopefully they will be nice and quiet

3. I now have a perfectly quiet JBL 180.2 amp that I have no idea what to do with. I guess it will just end up sitting in my closet.

Wish me luck...hopefully all of my noise will be gone soon
