Help with adjusting crossover
What's up, I have an Alpine 9815 and I'm trying to use the I-Personalize on the alpine website to adjust the crossover but I'm having a hard time. You have to enter the frequencies of the speaker that you have and they use a scale in which to do this, but it doesn't make much sense to me. On one part of the graph they ask for one number as the frequency and if you look up the frequency for the speakers it will say for example 45HZ-30kHZ, so which one is it? They also ask for the dB of each speaker and it goes from 0 to -12 and I can't find anything in the speaker specifications that comes even remotely close to that. If anyone has used this thing before let me know what they're looking for.
I don't know if this helps but my speakers are:
alpine 6.5 type r's coaxial
alpine 6x9 type r's coaxial
2 alpine 12in type r's 1221d

There is no link to the I-Personalize because you have to register but I can give you the website link, when you go to the site it will be under Alpine Support. All you have to do to register is give an email address and make up a password.

OK, it's basically a high pass/low pass crossover system. You set the subwoofer freq. at the highest note you want it to play..generally 80 will do, then you set the slope (how sharply it cuts off at that frequency) You'll have you play with different settings to get it how you like. dB is how much boost it has I think....they dont really explain well on here. since the numbers are negative, I would guess the higher number you input will make that particular component quieter? (my alpine only has time correction, I dont have a xover on mine)
As far as the speakers, you set the hz at the LOWEST freq. you want it to play.....somewhere around 100 is the average for components to save them from too much bass. Then again you set the slope to how sharply you want it to cut that frequency. Higher numbers mean a sharper slope. Then you adjust the dB.
I would play around with different settings till you get it how you like it....theres really no pre-set way you should have it.....
