when i did my sidepanels, to get the proper border i covered the entire area in foil, then stratched my cloth over it. after soaking and reinforcing with fiberglass, I added fiber reinforced bondo to ensure the panel would not warp before removing.
that enabled me to pull out the entire piece to bondo smooth and carpet. if you plan to paint, be prepared to sand a whole whole lot.
if you replace the mouldings, you cna cover the whole edge in rubber. i chose to leave my edge exposed and smoothed it out to have it lay over the existing grommet. i rather like the way they turned out, and indeed they scored me major points at my last competition.
to make the beginning mold you can start with .75 mdf and make a sub-frame, you only need it in places where the stretched cloth wont give you the contour you are looking for. in the most elegant panels, the only features that affect overall shape should be the baffle, trim for the amplifiers, or the overall boundaries of the box. sometimes thats impossible, but thats whats ideal.
superglue is definitely yoru friend here, much more useful than hot glue, but they both have their purpose. since this is a porche, I would be VERY VERY careful workign with the actual resin, and ot be sure to cover EVERY surface that isnt the working surface with a drop cloth to ensure nothing gets on the exterior of the vehicle. it will become a super huge pain and ordeal after a short time, but youll not regret it wen all is said and done!
good luck, installs like these take lots of time and effort, but the rewards make all the pain worthwhile!

when it hits a border, you need a trim piece to hide it, if thats what you wish.
aroudn the edges of his trunk, that means a new rubber trimming around.
otherwise, im not sure what you are referring to?
