Need suggestions, were to put stock head unit....

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I have a 2001 EX and want to keep my stock head unit so I can still utilize my keyless remote when I put in a new head unit. So where has everyone put them? Do I just have to have power to it? Is there a wireing harness that I can purchase that splits the power to both head units?

Didn't know the radio and the keyless were associated w/ one another. Are you sure.

I have a 2k1 EX and I just took out the stock and slapped a Pioneer HU in. No issues and keyless still works.

that was only in 6th gen civics where you needed to keep the hu, you can take it out and jump on it and the keyless will still work

5 radios to be correct, the blinky light is just a blinky light. the actual alarm unit is up under the dash above the drivers kick, and its a green harness that plugs into it.

I took out my stock HU and replaced it with an alpine and my keyless entry and alarm worked fine for the whole time until I got a new alarm system.

The blinking red light on the stock radio is to let you know that the radio security system is active. Meaning if you unplug it and plug it back into the car its going to ask you for a 4 digit code in order to turn the radio back on. This way if someone steals it, it won't turn on without the code. It has nothing at all to do with the keyless entry or security system in the car. Only 96-2000 Civic EX owners had to worry about that.
